Meet One Of Our Event Managers – Ellie

At Bright Vision Events, we believe our success is driven by the incredible team behind the scenes. Today, we’re excited to introduce you to our event manager Ellie, one of the creative masterminds who ensure every event is an unforgettable experience.

Q&A with Our Event Manager Ellie

Q1: Can you tell us about your role as an event manager at Bright Vision Events?

No Two Days Are Ever the Same!
We love the variety that comes with our role—traveling across the country, meeting amazing people, and experiencing something new at every event. Plus, because we offer full account management, the person who manages your enquiry is almost always the same person delivering your event. This means you’ve already built trust and confidence with us, ensuring all the details discussed during planning are remembered and executed perfectly.

Building Lasting Relationships
Being in a people-focused role is incredibly rewarding. We’re all about building long-term relationships and truly understanding our clients’ needs to deliver the best solutions. We especially love the personal touch—chatting about funny moments from past events and using those insights to recommend activities that will resonate with each unique group.

Collaborating with Incredible People
Our work wouldn’t be the same without the amazing people we get to work with! From our talented team of freelancers to the fantastic hotel teams we see regularly (who feel like extended family), and of course, our wonderful clients—everyone plays a part in making each event memorable.

Bringing New Event Ideas to Life
We thrive on the creative process—brainstorming innovative ideas in the office, testing new products, and watching concepts come to life. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing an idea transform into an unforgettable experience for our clients.

Q2: What inspired you to pursue a career in event management?

I can actually attribute this to Bright Vision Events as my first experience of event management was when I was only 17 and completed work experience here! I was out on events everyday and was immersed in all aspects of the role. Seeing firsthand the effectiveness the events had in bringing guests together, watching them form new connections and strengthen existing ones really stuck with me. Particularly when a guest is a little more reserved at the start, seeing their confidence grow and their contributions develop as the event progresses. A lot of what we do is about strengthening those human connections between colleagues and knowing we have an impact beyond the day itself is hugely rewarding.

Q3: What has been your most memorable event at Bright Vision Events?

We delivered an event for a client who wanted to host their team-building day at a local charity community garden. This initiative was close to the company’s heart, as many employees had previously volunteered there through a corporate scheme where they took time off to give back to the community. Hosting the event at the garden also provided valuable financial support to the charity, which was an important factor for the client.

The Challenge:
The biggest hurdle was space. As a community garden, there was only a small, uneven grassy area available, which limited our usual setup options. The client had their heart set on our Alternative Olympics—an energetic and engaging programme that typically requires ample, even ground. If we couldn’t make it work, they would have had to either sacrifice the activity or, more likely, move the event to another venue, resulting in a loss of vital support for the charity.

Finding a Solution:
Determined to make it work, I conducted a site visit to assess the space. It was challenging, but I reassured the client that we thrive on creating bespoke solutions tailored to the venue’s constraints. I adapted the Alt Olympics by selecting activities that required minimal space and modified some of the games to reduce their footprint. To maximise the limited space, I proposed a break halfway through the event—perfect for refreshments, especially on a hot July day! During this break, we completely transformed the field, swiftly packing away the first set of activities and setting up the second round, effectively doubling the use of the space.

The Outcome:
The day was a roaring success, culminating in a high-energy, giant inflatable sausage race finale that had everyone cheering. We crowned the winners and even had a few bonus prizes provided by the client (like ‘Most Enthusiastic Participant’). The client was thrilled not only with how well the event went but also with the positive impact it had on the charity.

What made the day even more special was meeting some of the charity’s volunteers and learning about the incredible work they do. It was a proud moment to witness the perfect balance of fun, teamwork, and meaningful community impact—a true reflection of the personalised, flexible approach we bring to all our events.

Q4: What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Having the variety in everyday whilst being one of the highlights of the role, can also be the tricky part to navigate. Naturally there are certain times of the year when the demand for events is concentrated, Christmas being the obvious but also those 3 or 4 months of the year when we (hopefully!) have sunshine and we all want to make the most out of it – whether it’s running around playing dodgeball or tackling their colleagues in space hopper football. It’s a huge amount of fun getting to be out and about almost everyday, though this does mean desk time becomes a precious commodity! Finding the balance in ensuring our clients receive prompt replies and maintaining the levels of communication we’re so proud to have can be a challenge. You often wish you can be in two places at once!

Q5: What’s it like working at Bright Vision Events?

As cliché as it sounds, it is like one big family. We are very fortunate to have so many team members, in the office and in our wider event team, who have been involved with the company for 1, 2 and in some cases 3 decades. It’s a huge testament to the company and a demonstration of how much we all enjoy working for Bright Vision Events. The support from the whole team is fantastic and everyone puts their all into delivering the very best of events. It’s brilliant when hearing this reflected by clients after the event and it is one of the most highly mentioned pieces of feedback we receive.

Q6: Any advice for aspiring event managers?

To get as much experience as you can – there are so many opportunities for to seize whether it’s work experience or taking on freelance event support roles to get that hands on involvement. I was very fortunate to have worked as a freelancer for years prior to advancing to an Event Manager role and that was invaluable to be able to hit the ground running as I’d already had a great deal of exposure to it all.  Another important aspect is understanding and building relationships with your clients. It’s vital to have an understanding of what it is that the client is looking to accomplish and knowing the context of the event and company, in order to accurately advise of the most suitable activities. This is such an important part when you’re organising an event from the get go, to achieve the most effective outcome from the event.
