Brother UK, the leading office printing and business solutions company are a long-standing client of ours, and we have delivered many events for them over the years featuring conference management and team building along with full production. This one was a bit different as it took nearly 2 years to deliver – due to the disruption caused by Covid-19.
The conference was originally slated for April 2020, but for Covid related reasons it was postponed 4 times – in April 2020, October 2020, April 2021 and October 2021 – until it was 5th time lucky in April 2022. Covid-19 certainly forced us to work differently (and smarter) and we were able to reschedule the conference each time (at no extra cost to the client), until it finally went ahead. It was very gratifying, therefore, that Brother (UK) made a point of thanking us for our conference management, support and flexibility in front of the audience at the start of the conference. This is the story of that conference.
The Details of our Conference Management for this event
The event took place in the Major Oak Suite at the wonderful Belton Woods Hotel, near Grantham in Lincolnshire and was for 70 delegates.
After a 2 year wait, the client was delighted with the outcome:

The Team Building element – The Detective Agency
This was a two for one team building event where guests become members of our detective agent, assisting the local Police Department to solve crimes and also MI5 with their hunt for Bond. The two elements, both of which are perfect for building teamwork, were:
- The Unsolved Crimes element
In this element, a murder has gone unsolved, and the culprit is still at large. The Police force are getting no closer to finding out who the murderer is, and the case is getting cold. Before the file is shut forever, participants need to step in and solve this mystery.
Each team was issued with all the Police files containing an overview of the challenge they faced, suspect statements and a map of the crime scene. The question was: working together, could they solve the Unsolved?
- The Our Spy is Missing element
The next element took the guests into the dangerous world of espionage, with 007 possibly being on his most dangerous mission yet. Unfortunately, whilst on this mission, somewhere in Europe, our agents have lost contact with him. Where he has gone is a mystery.
This element tested each team’s communication and problem-solving skills, as they worked together to delve into files and shared the relevant pieces of information to help crack both challenges.

As ever, the Audio/Visual solution is at the heart of delivering an outstanding conference, and in this case, we provided the following:

- 3 x 46” 4k Comfort Monitors
- 8 speaker PA system with 2 x subs
- 8 x Radio Mics

- 8 x LED stage wash lights
- 12 x LED battens up-lighting set
- 18 x Wireless LED up-lighters for room
- 12 x Moving lights
The full production was delivered by our 7-person crew and transported in a 17-tonne truck. A major logistical operation and worth it for the happy client at the end.
