In November 2013 we were asked to tender for the exhibition organising for a large exhibition stand design and build project for Comma Oil & Chemicals who were exhibiting at Automechanika 2014 at the Messe exhibition centre in Frankfurt. We won the pitch against 4 other top event agencies thanks to our creative ideas, and as the client said, our:
“…….superior ability to support overall logistics and deliver a high end audio visual solution.”
The Exhibition’s Details
The exhibition was live for 5 days but the whole project was executed over 2 weeks. This included 3 days for the stand build, 1 day to de-rig and 2 days travel either side of the event for all equipment. The transport logistics were all managed in house with one articulated lorry for the stand and a specialist vehicle sent seperately for the centrepiece of the exhibition – a Formula 2 car.
This exhibition had a number of challenging elements, in particular the mounting of the F2 car onto one of the stand walls. The stand needed all electrics, running water and internet, plus 2 air conditioned and sound proofed meeting rooms. For the ‘Back of House’ we installed store rooms and a kitchen with barista coffee machines.
The Technical Set Up
The audio visual elements of the event included 5 x 55” LED screens, 2 of which were touchscreen. In the meeting rooms private networks were installed so ipads and tablets could control screen content. The whole stand also had private and public internet access with a number of routers and internet switches installed.
Lighting was all LED throughout the stand including over 100 metres of LED strip tape. Registration to the stand and meetings was controlled by a hosted iPad based registration website. In addition to the physical construction of the stand, we were commissioned with the management and staffing of the stand during the event. We also supplied four members of staff for the show duration to include technical, registration and hosting.
